Odessa Footwear History

Born in the gutter and raised in the slums Odessa Footwear was conceived as a truly independant UK based street sports footwear company. With rigorous research and development utilising our team of riders we were able to refine our footwear to not only look great but perform at the highest levels within the industry.

Philosophy

Our philosophy was and always will be simply to produce the best functional shoes possible without compromising on style and design.

Through the ranges...

2006:

January saw the launch of our fIrst collection of footwear hit stores in the UK in controlled quantities. Autumn Winter landed in Norway with the help of our first international distributor. Our BMX Team took its first trip to the mecca of Barcelona, and the release of our first DVD.

2007:

The third range hit the eastern block as Odessa was welcomed to the shelves in Russia, we also appeared at the Bread and Butter trade show in Barcelona to great avail as Odessa picked up new distributors for Spain, Portugal & Czech Republic among others.

2008:

Odessa's distribution list continued to grow as did the range, and promotion for the Team. Launching our own Flatland Battle in Barcelona and Skate Series in Portugal both recieved well with the locals, in September we hosted our first Rad Pat memorial Jam, RIP.

SS09:

Coming of age, Odessa's Broad printed uppers and airsoles were all the rage, teaming up with Luke Bond, one of the Uk's most famous tattoo artists to produce the Bond Skulls & Flowers range.

AW09:

Evolving the season into a more casual and slim fitting design using full-grain leathers and exciting new mettalic based materials through our collections, we also introduced the Exclu. Range using the finest materials for our uppers. The introduction of the NMD gel system provided increased impact absorbtion protecting against heel bruises with compromising comfort.

A winter road trip to Rotterdam, relatively unexplored in BMX terms, was the destination Northern John's army were heading to to show what they were all about, and they did! On a booze & adrenaline fuelled trip resulting in broken bikes & damaged limbs. Amazingly the lads came good to produce a stunning web edit.

SS10:

Continuing to diversify and slimline throughout the collection with the use of new colour combinations and materials as well as some new exciting colaborations including Rampworx skatepark. Our still young Eclu. Range is beginning to mature into a prominent range of footwear, along with the shoe development Odessa also announced several new Team riders.

AW10:

The new Specialised Vulcup Sole (SVC) and EVA wedge pioneered the way for a fresh new look at the girls shoes, the Mara Hi was a great example of the fresh design approach, materials & style. With fashion dictating styles should be thinner, sleeker and made of softer materials Odessa poured more energy into testing new soles & materials for durability on the street scene and teamed up with Scott Ditchburn to produce a signature shoe.

SS11:

Bright and bold for the summer '11, Odessa's most fashion based range yet is here to help you stand out, with the indrodcution of the all new styles of Flat Top, West Low, Victoria & Zinc the latters keeping specifically with the low thin fashion. Development of the Epoch & Del Gardas got huge thumbs up from the riding team for comfort, support and durabilty.

AW11:

The up and coming range from Odessa will be our most diverse yet, with such a range of styles, heights, colours & materials including a selection of boots guaranteeing the girl's range will be a top seller. Not forgetting our roots, the release of Foooman's signature shoe 'the FooShoe' will offer the finest support and durability for everything the street can throw at you, as well as a comeback for a few old favorites... ;)
